One of the stars of the show at Celtic Park, Denis Cheryshev is ready for action in Thursday's return leg in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32. The Russian spoke in the official UEFA press conference on Wednesday.
Celtic
Celtic are dangerous opponents. What’s more, I think a lot of their fans are going to come here. We’re playing at home and we want to show that we can keep going in this competition. I think the team have been playing well in recent games; we just lacked goals this past Sunday. I think that we’ll go out there tomorrow with the utmost motivation to go through.
The short turnaround
We’ve had a couple of days in which to recover well. I think that we’re doing everything within our power and I feel good physically. I just want to continue improving.
How far the team can go
We don't have to set any long term goals at the moment; we have to focus on the next game, and then the one after that. We’re not going to throw away any competition or game. We want to win every game and we’ll face every one of them with the intention of doing that. That’s the way to go.
The return of Gonçalo Guedes
His return is good for everyone. In the end, there is healthy competition here that is good for the team. Both he and I can play in different positions.
Playing as a supporting striker
I normally play in another position, but I played as a striker a lot as a child and also at Villarreal CF. I feel comfortable there and I'm willing to play in that position if necessary to help the team.
